VALENTINE’S DAY: Romantic Tropics Experience | Arts & Culture

For some, Valentine’s Day conjures up images of tropical settings with birds of paradise chirping in the background and in winter in Iowa you would think that would be hard to come by.

Blank Park Zoo is offering its third annual “Wild at Heart” Valentine’s Dinner.

Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse will host with the menu including Insalata Caprese, Roma tomatoes and fresh Mozzarella, basil, olive oil and balsamic as a starter. Entrée selection is a choice of a six ounce grilled filet of beef with a rich demi glaze, Cedar Plank Salmon with Apricot butter or Two Stuffed Pork Chops. The meal will finish with a beautiful chocolate truffle heart, dark chocolate truffle candied pecan brittle dipped in white chocolate with blackberry sauce and fresh berries.

The three course meal will overlook a tropical rainforest with exotic birds and a waterfall where you can enjoy your complimentary glass of wine or champagne.
