FUNDRAISING DINNER: Series To Honor Monroe Colston | Business
AIB College of Business will honor the late Des Moines civic leader, Monroe Colston with a three-part speaker series and a scholarship fundraising dinner at Wakonda Club next year.
Featured business leaders will share perspectives on the connection between good character and success. Speakers include:
Jan. 9, 2013 – Johnny Danos, director of strategic development at LWBJ Financial
March 6, 2013 – Larry Zimpleman, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the Principal Financial Group
March 27, 2013 – Courtney Maxwell Greene, public relations manager at Wellmark
The free speaker events are open to the public and begin at 11:45 a.m. in the AIB Activities Center, 2280 Bell Ave. A complimentary light lunch will be served to the first 300 guests who register by calling 515-246-5101. Seating is limited, and registration is required at least a week prior to each speaking event.
Colston was a former real estate commissioner for the state of Iowa and consultant to the Greater Des Moines Foundation, serving as its president in the 1990s. Known as a non-confrontational civil rights leader, he was inducted into the Iowa African-American Hall of Fame in 2007 and served on many business boards and councils.
