ANGEL'S MISSION: An Iowa soldier's mom is acting the part of an angel to get people to send her son Christmas greetings in Afghanistan | News

If you're a regular in the skywalks of Des Moines, there's no missing her. The angel in the skywalk is back and on a mission for the holidays.
Lorrie Ludwick spent Tuesday morning in downtown Des Moines dressed as an angel. The military mom is asking people to send Christmas greetings to her son in Afghanistan. Her 35-year-old-son, Spc. Brad Griffin, left last week for his second tour in Afghanistan.
This is also the second time he will be away from home for the holidays. Ludwick handed out flyers two years ago and Iowans sent more than 1,500 cards to her two sons and daughter-in-law overseas. She's hoping for another outpouring of support for Brad.
“This isn`t a political statement being here. This is to support my son and people are very receptive. They understand what a mother is like. I`ve gotten lots of hugs from other mothers,” says Ludwick.
