Title (Max 100 Characters)
The fate of one Des Moines elementary school will be decided at Tuesday’s school board meeting.
The board will discuss closing Gateway Secondary School and splitting up the 172 students who go there.
The school is housed on Central Campus in downtown Des Moines, and was only opened in 2010. At that time it was the only middle school in the district to offer international baccalaureate courses.
Now three other schools have earned the same distinction, and a fourth has applied, the district says it is in their best interest to close the school and send the students elsewhere.
The school board meets at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
